It seems that with the rising popularity of messaging platforms and the advancements in NLP, chatbots are a hot topic these days [Business Insider]. So when Aalto asked us last September to suggest topics for Bachelor’s theses, I proposed bot development.

Two computer science students, Jere Vaara and Miika Rantakaulio, opted for the topic and developed a chatbot for their thesis. Jere developed a calendar scheduling bot for Telegram and Miika a place-search bot for Facebook Messenger. They worked hard for this semester and just presented their theses – making me (undeservedly) proud as their advisor.
